Newell Rubbermaid (NYSE:NWL) is expected to report Q3 earnings before market open Thursday, October 30, with a conference call scheduled for 9:00 am ET.
Analysts are looking for a profit of 34c on revenue of $1.79B. The consensus range is 32c to 36c for EPS, and revenue of $1.77B to $1.81B, according to First Call. In July the company forecast Q3 EPS 31c to 35c on net sales growth of between 6% and 7%, forecast FY08 EPS $1.40 to $1.60 vs. First Call consensus $1.49, and net sales growth of between 6% to 8%.
Deutsche Bank analyst Bill Schmitz said he remains "somewhat cautious" on consumer products due to slowing growth and currency, pricing, trade down and input costs "remain wild cards". BMO Capital analyst Connie Maneaty told investors that conversations with the company confirmed that there's so much demand for its Calphalon kitchenware line the company will suspend its employee discounts. Maneaty has an Outperform rating on shares.
