The Foreclosure States: Referendum for Obama, or Scapegoating the Party in Charge? 9 comments

Eight of the top 10 foreclosure states all swung for Obama, giving him an additional 71 electoral votes.
Would them swinging for McCain have made a difference? No. It does mean that it was the central issue. 90% of exit polls said the economy was the central issue. It also means that the McCain camp really dropped the ball not linking Obama to Freddie (FRE) and Fannie (FNM) the same relentless way Obama linked McCain to Bush.
It also means that two years from now should the housing situation not be any better, Democrats may face a backlash in Congress in those elections as this shows the vote in these areas was not so much "for Obama" but "against Bush".
The only thing less popular today than Bush is Congress. The new Congress has no honeymoon period as citizens over their head want someone to blame. It will be the guys in charge, not themselves.

Congress will be slaughtered in 2 years time since this thing wont be turned around by then. Unfortunatly/fortunatl... (depending upon your politics) the dems have 2 REALLY BIG problems. Over promises/expectaions and too many splintered groups/ ideas that only joined hands for the election.
Now the infighting starts and just as in the past 2 years nothing much will get done and if a token start is made it will be too late for the mid-term election since it will be a far cry from Obamas promises and the publics expectations. Congress will however meet or exceed the publics present opinion of congress and they will pay for it in the mid-terms. I for one hope I am dead wrong. We need to get this thing turned around before we are too far down the road and the u-turn is a long ways farther.
With term limits congressmen do the right thing because they don't have to worry about the next election.
Congress has a single digit approval rating but no ones individual congressman is all that bad...lol What a joke. In order to save the nation and bring back fiscal sanity we are going to have to throw the baby out with the bathwater.
The saddest thing about this election was people voted against Bush and not for Obama and Bush will not even be around come Jan 20th. I personally voted FOR McCain.
I wrote in a vote for Ron Paul.

No shit.. They need someone else to blame for their lack of planning and managing their financial lives: No savings to speak of; 5-digit CC balances; in over their heads with their house payments; driving new cars they cannot pay to finance nor fillup; eating out 4, 5, 6 nights a week; gambling excessively on the Lotto, scratch-off cards; squandering on entertainment, tickets to sports games, NASCAR; buying new toys, 40-50" plasma TVs, entertainment centers, i-phones, PCs, and on and on and on.
Can you say, "Delayed Gratification"?
