FMC reported better than expected Q2 results in July, reporting Q2 EPS of 81c vs. consensus of 73c, and Q2 revenue of $1.5B vs. consensus of $1.37B. At that time, the company gave FY08 EPS guidance of $2.60 to $2.70 vs. a consensus at the time of $3.00. The company reiterated the guidance in September, but the consensus expectations for FY08 EPS have been lowered to $2.75.
Jefferies recently downgraded FMC to Hold from Buy and lowered its target on the company to $37 from $52, to reflect the stock's relative valuation to the oil service peers.
