Despite many investors still showing caution regarding the U.S. banking sector, there has been an overall recovery in the industry with the KBW Bank Index (^BKX), a capitalization index composed of 24 leading bank stocks, up by just over 21% for the year-to-date (YTD). This in conjunction with improved housing data, which shows the housing recovery is gaining momentum, makes me believe there is emerging value for investors in U.S. regional banks.
