The Gas Utility Industry has completed its announcements of its calendar 1st quarter 2006 earnings results. Check below for the table highlighting the reported EPS, compared against consensus and year ago EPS.
Below is our updated table listing each gas utility that we track in our yield rankings, its reporting date, the consensus EPS for 1Q 2006 earnings (where available from Yahoo Finance), and the operating/continuing EPS actually reported, if available.
As a summary, the Gas Utility Industry, in its just completed 1st Quarter of reported earnings, shows the following:
1) On average, the industry did better than year ago 1Q, despite a generally warm winter that dampened sales, and high gas prices that have begun to reduce demand.
2) On average, the industry reported earnings just a little worse than consensus, though generally in-line. Only 7 Gas Utilities out of 25 did not meet or exceed consensus expectations (where available).
