About this author:

What happens when supermodels try to predict currency movements? This sounds like a B-movie theme, but in reality, a year ago, it was widely reported that supermodel Gisele Bundchen would only accept payment in Euros since the U.S. Dollar was "too weak."

I thought I'd revisit one year later and see how she stacked up against the old dollar for contracts she has entered during the past year. It turns out she didn't do to well and may do well to just stick to her core competency: looking good.

Of SUPERMODELS and FOREX:

Well, in the year ago period, she lost 12% on her foray into currencies. In the six month ago period, she lost 17%. While it was the "in" thing for the Hollywood elite and Axis of evil alike to trash the U.S. Dollar in 2007, it has proven its resilience this year in the face of a global credit crisis. Sadly, much of the current malaise was exported from our border via toxic mortgage derivatives, but we're sitting pretty nonetheless compared to other currencies.

I utilized FXE as a proxy for the Dollar-Euro exchange.

Disclosure: No position in FXE or Gisele calendars.

I found it to be titillating.

    I'm sorry, I just couldn't resist.

It was a fun article nonetheless, but the overriding theme here is that a year ago, the whole world was betting against the dollar including rappers, models and foreign governments and look who's laughing now.

First of all Gisele already said THAT WAS NOT TRUE, but since when you media people ever let a little thing like THE TRUTH get in your way. You make crap up, circulate it them then quote your OWN MADE UP CRAP. If you people say the sky is blue, I WILL STILL LOOK UP.
