Seeking Alpha
About the author: From Bespoke:

Below we highlight the Dow's change on the day after Thanksgiving since 1988. Over the last 20 years, the Dow has been positive 13 times (65%) and averaged a gain of 0.21%. Since 1901, the Dow has averaged a gain of 0.31% on the day after Thanksgiving. Compared to the average one-day change of 0.03% for all days since 1901, 0.31% looks pretty good. Hopefully the post-Thanksgiving trade is positive once again today to cap off a solid week of gains.

Some cheer in the markets after deep gloom the past few weeks. Always like that, markets never move in a straight line. Longer term trend is still uncertain.

There will be several false dawns in the coming year.
No-one will know when the real one shows up.
    Punters will lose once again.
The profession will win as always.
If you worked for your money, stay out of it.

The parking lots were full of cars. People were spending. The market could have a pleasant surprise.
