The recent rally in global equity markets over the last week or so has given many countries a good bounce off of their 52-week lows. Below we highlight the percentage change from 52-week lows along with the year to date changes for 84 country equity indices.

Ghana is the furthest from its 52-week low, but that low came nearly a year ago. The rest of the countries saw 52-week lows much more recently. Hong Kong has had the biggest rally off of its recent low with a gain of 25.57%, followed by Ukraine, Brazil, Czech Republic, Mexico, and Peru. We have outlined each of the G-7 countries in black. As shown, the US has had the biggest rally of these countries at 13.72%, while Canada and Italy are trading the closest to their 52-week lows of the G-7. Serbia, Nigeria, and Bermuda are unfortunately still trading at their 52-week lows.

On a year to date basis, Iceland is the worst with a decline of 89.96%, followed by Bulgaria, Ukraine, Russia, and Croatia. Ghana, Tunisia, and Ecuador are the only three countries in the black in 2008.
