According to comScore (SCOR), E-Commerce spending on Cyber Monday jumped 15%, reaching $846 million, which is the second highest online spending day recorded. The four-day period from Black Friday through Cyber Monday experienced a spending jump of 13% as both weekend days and Monday all achieved double-digit gains.

Comscore Cyber Sales

Earlier this week comScore said that despite a depressed retail climate, the unemployment rate increase and the shock of the financial market meltdown, online spending was up 1% versus last year. Online shoppers spent $534 million, up from $531 million for Black Friday ‘07. For the combination of Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday, comScore said online sales increased by 2% relative to last year. comScore also noted that the rate of growth for Cyber Monday sales has traditionally been an indicator of the overall rate of growth for holiday spending in general.
