Since the security situation in Colombia began to stabilize in the early 2000s, the country became a hot spot for oil and gas exploration, with a number of Canadian domiciled oil exploration and producers leading the charge. One of the most interesting of these is Canacol Energy (CAAED.PK), an exploration and production micro-cap focused on onshore operations in Colombia and Ecuador. Over the last year, its stock has fallen by around 60% in value and this I believe in conjunction with a number of emerging positive catalysts, makes it a deep value investment opportunity for risk tolerant investors.
