Here's a quick list of some new ETFs hitting the markets:

  • ProShares Ultra DJ-AIG Commodity (UCD)
  • ProShares Ultra Short DJ-AIG Commodity (CMD)
  • ProShares Ultra DJ-AIG Crude Oil (UCO)
  • ProShares Ultra Short DJ-AIG Crude Oil (SCO)
  • ProShares Ultra Euro (ULE)
  • ProShares UltraShort Euro (EUO)
  • ProShares Ultra Yen (YCL)
  • ProShares UltraShort Yen (YCS)
  • ProShares Ultra Gold (UGL)
  • ProShares UltraShort Gold (GLL)
  • Proshares Ultra Silver (AGQ)
  • Proshares UltraShort Silver (ZSL)

I find it highly ironic that in a time where everyone is deleveraging and is concerned about leverage, that we continually see more and more leveraged ETFs popping up -just what we needed!

Oh, and if you missed it, the new triple levered ETFs take the cake!

Didn't you mean UCO (the Ultra) instead of USO (just a 1X fund)?

Watch out for these leveraged ETFs. ProShares' existing ones (DDM, DXD, .... SKF, SRS, etc) do not do what they are supposed to, match double the (inverse of) their indexes, even on a day basis. Over not very long a time, both halves of their ultra/ultrashort pairs (e.g., UYG/SKF) will tend to underperform their goals, sometimes to the point that BOTH are negative in as little as a few days. Run some comparison charts and you'll see what's happening. These are dangerous vehicles, suitable for only very short-term trading/gambling.
