China Aoxing Pharmaceutical Company (CAXG.OB) was given a production license by the SFDA for Ligustrazine Phosphate Injection to treat ischemic cerebrovascular disease or ischemic stroke. Ligustrazine is a TCM substance that promotes blood circulation by dilating blood vessels and slowing coagulation.
Although China Aoxing focuses on pain medications, it markets directly to hospitals, so it considers the new product a natural fit. In April, the company agreed to pay $10 million to acquire Shijiazhuang Le Ren Tang Pharmaceutical, a company involved in manufacturing modernized TCM products.
China Aoxing said that 2 million people in China are newly diagnosed each year with ischemic cerebrovascular disease.
Disclosure: none.
