There's a good deal of risk to these dividends, particularly for the real estate plays. However, yields look quite tempting...

Dividends are great, growth is great, quality is great, what is not great are the CEO's who run the company's into the ground, the Board of Directors who usually are a sleep at the wheel and all the consultants who talk nonsense while collecting their fees. We also should not leave out all the regulators who in the last 8 years have been in bed with above actors. Harvard MBA's and Yale lawyers should be put out to pasture for awhile and have them live with the Bears instead of with the Bulls.

DDR's website issued a statement back in December, 2008 that its dividend for 2009 was likely to be $1.50 per share slashed from 2008. If calculated, it is about 19% from your stock investment. I don't think DDR is lying to investors in the US and the world through its website. If you consider the beaten-down stock prices and dead real estate market that will eventually turn up in 5 - 10 years, this could be the investment chance of your life time.

In addition, DDR will distribute maximum earnings possible through dividends to be exempt from federal taxes on their earnings. Certainly, real estate market is dead, and the current economic downturn is bad enough to increase vacancy. But, that does not mean that all of their real estate holdings and tenants will get sour.

Click on the Dividend Yield row of DDR of the table above, and you will be redirected to a diffent website. The website clearly shows the estimated dividend from DDR in 2009. 19% estimated dividend!

    I just bought DDR yesterday.
