I borrowed the idea for this post from something similar that I saw in the Investor's Almanac. (Thanks, Investor's Almanac!)

With President-elect Obama's swearing in ceremony coming up in about 25 days, it is somewhat interesting to have a look at what the first year in office typically looks like for new U.S. presidents (click to enlarge images).

President Reagan[R]
President Carter[D]

President Johnson[D]
President Kennedy[D]

I'll let you draw some of your own conclusions on the info presented here. There seem to be a number of conclusions that can be made.

    Don't be such a stick in the mud nutty buddy :) Based on this there are a number of things that could be said. For instance it appears the market sure likes Democrats more than Republicans. It also appears that the first few months of a presidency is when things really start to happen- looks like the swan song only lasts so long! Interesting too to see how Hoover managed through his crash. In fact the more I look at these the more interesting things I see nutty buddy.
