Audiovox Corporation (VOXX) announced Tuesday that they have reached an agreement in principle with SIRIUS XM Satellite Radio (SIRI), which promises to make Audiovox the principal supplier of satellite radio products to the North American aftermarket.
The deal, once the distribution agreement is finalized, will make Audiovox a major warehousing, distribution, and logistics partner to satellite radio. Audiovox is no stranger to the satellite radio world, having worked with both Sirius and XM in the past. That past and present relationship should help keep the retail channel more stable going forward.
Patrick Lavelle, President and CEO of Audiovox, sees this as a major move for the company, stating, “This is yet another major milestone for our Company as it further strengthens our leading position in the satellite radio category. Despite the current economic climate, satellite radio is still growing and we believe it will continue to be a prominent form of consumer entertainment. With this agreement, we expect our satellite radio sales to more than double next year with limited exposure. We look forward to partnering with SIRIUS XM in this next phase of their corporate evolution.”
Directed bowed out of the satellite radio sector earlier this year. At the time it was rumored that New Age would play a role in SDARS, but that seems to have fallen by the wayside, at least for the time being.
For consumers, this is likely a good piece of news. Audiovox has wide ranging distribution agreements with many retailers, and has known name brands that consumers are familiar with. While this is speculation, I would anticipate that new products will be available after September of 2009, with perhaps a couple of new devices in time for Father’s Day.

Excellent point! Why would a company sign an agreement with a company that is going bankrupt? Of course this will still be viewed as a negative by Wall Street until the debt is settled. Well, there is only 6 weeks left for the company to either file for bankruptcy or get the Feb debt paid. In 45 days or sooner we will all have a better idea where the company is heading. This is yet another sign that Sirius is going to survive this present economic situation from my perspective.
Long Sirius
Let me get a pen and write these down, hold on... This is good stuff...good stuff...
Im up early so I can sell at .05 cents...Ok...Well, its going to have to bypass my sell order at 10, but I guess you know more than I do...
Its been going down...down..down...Yo... right...Look at Indymac's chart....Look at Lehman bros. chart...Those stocks are going down down down(O wait, both are trading higher than Sirius stock right now....)And they ARE bankrupt....I buy any company that generates 2.4 billion dollars in one year, about turn cash flow positive, and sells for .12 cents a share...I'll buy...Sure, why not...

Even when they make debt payments, it goes unnoticed. Even if they make this years debt payments, there is always some pesky issue they can latch on to, such as debt payments due in 2045, or something. We need good postive news to help this stock to start rising (or at least to stop the decline). Agreed with mlongj. We'll know something by Feb.
BTW: Most of the bashers are down in the islands for the holiday and will be back by Monday.....

The haters can hate all they want, but at the end of the day, they are all greedy and will jump on the buy, buy, buy bandwagon as soon as it starts.
""That’s interesting John, and maybe not far off. Rumor has it that Mel is considering offers from CBS or Murdoch for a +25% stake in SIRI. As you know Murdoch was forced out of DirecTV by king Malone and would add more video to SIRI to compete with DTV, Apple and Google. CBS with broadcast, music and video can do the same thing. Mel is freeing up capacity now and has another satellite on order. We will see if the rumor plays out in 2009. Cheers.

Channels- Would it be too hard to Sell Printed Ads on the Channel?
Holiday Music - Brought to you by SiriusXM and Coca Cola, or- by JC Penney- or ....Heavy Metal by SiriusXM and Budweiser....etc....yo... think
at x $'s per day it could be a real money maker and not interfere with the
Music...........it would make the stock a hell of a lot more attractive with
another big rev. stream...?....even if they split the Ad $ with Dish.
09 brings bankrupcy and massive permanent share loss, or share value increase of significant amounts...This should all be over in 3 months time...Whatever sirius is at in march, im selling, i dont care...The markets going to take a dump on the US around then, and its going to be worse than the last leg down...Ok, not worse, but it will seem that way....Hitting DOW 6000 might cause some people to cry....Lets hope thats all they do is cry..
