Green Hunter Energy (GRH) has been approved by the EPA to sell its biodiesel to the on-road market. Currently the main markets for the company's biodiesel has been the marine market and for export.

Green Hunter’s biodiesel refinery at the Houston ship channel has the capacity to produce 105 million gallons per year of fuel. The refinery resumed production on November 25 after being shut down due to damage from Hurricane Ike. Before the shutdown the plant had reached 65% of capacity production level.

It will be a positive for the company to start generating significant revenues from biodiesel sales. GRH is still a start-up operation in several areas of renewable energy including wind energy and power from bio-waste.

Disclosure: GRH is a component of my site’s hypothetical Opportunities Portfolio.

These guys were sourcing turbines from China when the market was really tight in '07-early '08. Remains to be seen what the reliability/maintenanc... is on them, but at this point saving some on capex looks like a pretty good move.

if you bother to read the company's sec filings, GRH is essentially out of cash and is having difficulties raising additional capital and may have to sell assets. The diesel distributor, L & L, that they are considering purchasing is a "dog" with antiquated facilities. L &L has been for sale for awhile after its parent company was taken over by the banking group. GRH is vastly overpaying assuming they can even raise the money in today's credit markets.
