Interchange Corporation (ticker: INCX) CEO Heath Clarke discussed his company's strategy for the local mobile search market on his Q4 results conference call. Key quotes:

… Europe leads the U.S. in wireless usage by about… two years. As a result, we look to Europe for potential future trends in SMS and wireless usage. One of the trends is the increasing usage of text message to replace directory assistance inquiries.

In Norway for example 30 percent of directory assistance inquiries are by a text message. Consumers are replacing the operator with self-service mobile digital search. They save time. They save about 90 percent of the cost and they get more complete results. We think this… will spread to the U.S. market.

…Interchange recently released a beta of a new service called SMS Local… a text messaging service that uses the short code LOCAL...
