Continental Airlines (NYSE:CAL) is expected to report Q4 earnings before market open Thursday, January 29, with a conference call scheduled for 9:30 am ET.
Analysts are looking for EPS of (89c) on revenue of $3.49B. The consensus range is ($1.23)-(55c) for EPS, and $3.45B-$3.57B for revenue, according to First Call. Continental Airlines announced on January 21 that it expects to record several special items during 4Q08 totaling $170M of expense, and $234M of expense for FY08. The company had previously announced in December it expected to record $25M in foreign currency losses in Q4. The company also noted it could experience additional foreign exchange losses in December if the US dollar continues to strengthen against these and other currencies.
In early January Continental was downgraded to Neutral from Buy at BofA/Merrill. The firm cites the recent strength in shares for the downgrades.
