Below we provide a list of the 30 best-performing leveraged ETFs so far in 2013. With stocks strong out of the gate, it's no surprise that the triple-long (3x) equity ETFs have been the best performers. As shown, the 3x semiconductors ETF (SOXL) is up the most with a YTD gain of 36.04%, followed by the 3x midcap (MIDU) and the 3x long financials (FAS). The 3x small-cap ETF (TNA) ranks fourth best with a gain of 25.94%, while the 3x long Dow 30 ETF (UDOW) rounds out the top five.
Five inverse (short) ETFs rank in the top 30 as well. These five are the 2x short yen (YCS), the 2x short agriculture (AGA), the 3x short 20+ Year Treasury (TMV), the 3x short 7-10 Year Treasury (SBND), and the 2x short 20+ Year Treasury (TBT).
