WebMD (ticker: HLTH) CEO Roger Holstein discussed the performance and growth of WebMD's medical content web business on his Q4 earnings results conference call. Key quotes, including traffic stats:
WebMD revenue was $39.1 million, a gain of 27.1% compared to $30.8 million in the prior year... Traffic to our health network averaged 21.3 million unique monthly visitors during the December quarter ,an increase of 3.9 percent compared to last year. And page views were 474 million, an increase of 15.6 percent over the prior year...
…we continue to expand our online health network, aligning with several new partners… including CVS news online, fox news online. In addition, we acquired two small health content sites, RXList and MedicineNet.
RXList is providing consumer and professionals with comprehensive information on prescription drugs... MedicineNet is also a specialized web site. The content is written and edited by a network of physicians, but it is designed for a consumer rather than a professional. The site provides detailed information about diseases and conditions, signs and symptoms, procedures and tests and medications. In addition the MedicineNet doctors authored the Webster's new world medical dictionary.
Together, these acquisitions broaden our content and services for consumers and professionals and contribute to our goal of providing health advertisers a highly targeted audience of health involved consumers and clinically active physicians.
