Check out this very ugly chart:

Shares of NYT (NYT) dropped 29 cents Tuesday to close at $3.77. The Sunday paper goes for $4 at the newsstand.

Maybe they could save costs by printing the paper on their stock certificates.

I heard that the New York Times is on the verge of bankruptsy. As Lew Rockwell says, "they don't call it a correction for nothing".

I don't think that would work, because it would take hundreds of stock certificates for one $4 paper.

When Carlos Slim makes the third of his moves, in the trifecta he is currently playing with the NYT, he will then take over the Times & re-name it to "Nuevo York Ayer, Hoy y Manana"... it will be the most read Spanish language paper ...todo al mundo! The price of the paper as well as the stock will soar, and all will be happy! (except for the non-spanish speaking editors, reporters, etc. who will be unemployed).
Disclosure: I do not hold any positions in NYT stock, options, or any related derivatives. I have been known to wrap a lot of fish in various newspapers.
