Merger: Nokia (NOK) and Siemens (SI) - These companies recently merged right after another telecom merger between Lucent (LU) and Alcatel (ALA). Although mergers are usually good for the stocks involved, as well as the entire sector, Cramer would still stay out of telecom until the competiton cools off and there is more consolidation.
"Over There": Wal-Mart (WMT), McDonald's (MCD), Starbucks (SBUX) Yum! Brands (YUM) and Whole Foods (WFMI) - Cramer believes that many companies that are successful in the US make the mistake of assuming that they will do well abroad, and uses Wal-Mart as an example, which is seeing a major defeat in the U.K, where there is a strike looming. Wal-Mart's performance is also lackluster in Germany and in South Korea. Cramer cites WMT and SBUX as two companies which sell well overseas, and points out that YUM is doing particulary good business in China. He believes that WFMI is a company that will benefit by expanding its operations abroad.
Bullish calls:
Schering-Plough (SGP): Cramer says this stock is a buy, with market capitalization at more than 15% in cash.
Halliburton (HAL) and Alcoa (AA): Cramer suggests picking up stocks that have been flattened, such as aluminum and mineral companies.
K.B. Home (KBH): Cramer would wait to pull the trigger on this stock, which has a growth rate of 16% and sells at four times earnings.
Nvidia (NVDA): Cramer likes this stock and says it is at buying level now.
Corning (GLW): Cramer calls it the best liquid-crystal display stock.
Neutral/Bearish calls:
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD): Cramer recommends waiting before buying AMD and other tech stocks until August.
Crystallex International (KRY): This company has world's largest unexploited gold mine, and since it is a speculative stock, Cramer does not recommend investing in it with money that you can't afford to lose.
Nortel Networks (NT): Cramer does not see this stock going up and does not feel that it will be purchased, due to its large size. He suggests Ciena (CIEN) or Conexant (CNXT) instead.
