Nortel Update: Canadian Workforce and Asia

Andrew Wahl has a story running into the next issue of Canadian Business magazine looking at Nortel’s Canadian workforce, which includes R&D facilities in Montreal, Calgary, Ottawa and Belleville.

In a blog post, Wahl said there are now 5639 employees in Canada (including 3844 in Ottawa) and 8,882 in the U.S.

You wonder how large the Canadian workforce will be after Nortel finishes its restructuring process, especially given how it’s looking for a much smaller R&D facility in Ottawa.

Interesting article in today’s Financial Post about how Nortel is doing well in Asia. To be honest, it comes across as far too bullish, but it is kind of refreshing to see a good news Nortel story.
