Now that many investors believe that the price of natural gas has bottomed out, they are paying closer attention to the natural gas drillers and the gas utilities. WallStreetNewsNetwork.com has discovered a dozen of these gas utilities that are paying over 4%, and most have forward P/E ratios under 12. Here are a few examples:

  • Transcanada Corp (TRP) with a forward PE of 10.67, and a yield of 6.3%.
  • Atmos Energy Corp (ATO) with a forward PE of 9.55, and a yield of 6.0%.
  • Nicor Inc (GAS) with a forward PE of 9.87, and a yield of 5.9%.

    It's about time these lists were updated! Last time was sometime in 2007, and with the way companies have been merged, sold, or have gone out of business, many of the stocks on the lists were not as indicated.

    Time to start the due diligence again... high yield is nice, but it's not the only thing to look for. Research, research, research.
