Note: The Hitwise data featured is based on US market share of visits as defined by the IAB, which is the percentage of online traffic to the domain or category, from the Hitwise sample of 10 million US internet users. Hitwise measures more than 1 million unique websites on a daily basis, including sub-domains of larger websites. Hitwise categorizes websites into industries on the basis of subject matter and content, as well as market orientation and competitive context. The market share of visits percentage does not include traffic for all sub-domains of certain websites that could be reported on separately.

Zillow is tracking towards a 8.5-9 million unique visitor month (March 09) according to Omniture. A record month for us.

Somethings fishy... shouldn't the total of a percentage add up to 100% This adds up to around 27. So the "other" categories would add up to 73% Where are those?

xmplary: My guess is that the other sites that rank fall into other categories, such as newspapers. That or there are 73+ other sites that each have below 1.5% of the market share.

I think it doesn't add up to 100% because % of visits is for ALL internet users not just over real estate sites.

Also, it is not really meaningful to ADD UP the %s as it is very likely in this niche that they will visit 2 or more sites, i.e. they overlap. So if let's say 9% of all internet users on average visit 3 real estate sites each, that will cause the total to be 27%.

In other words, Keith & xmplary, the total is closer to 10% not 100%

Redfin only offers search for about 1/7th of the US population, so we're at a disadvantage when compared to national sites. But we are, I think, the fastest-growing major real estate site in the U.S.

Zillow and some of those other sites that give show home values really need to put a big warning on their sites. They are so frequently off when it comes to real estate values.
