Recently Nicemac, the developers of the first Satellite Radio iPhone application submitted to Apple (AAPL) for approval, made headlines when it was forced to abandon the project by Sirius XM (SIRI). As we later learned, Sirius XM has its own application pending and Nicemac announced that it would discontinue its operations as of March 8, 2009.

That was then, this is now. It appears that Nicemac and Sirius may have come to an agreement of some kind. Through Twitter, Nicemac has informed us that they will be returning to the Mac this summer with a focus placed on MP3 streams, recording/iPod integration, album art, lyrics, and purchase links. This goes hand-in-hand with recent announcements by Sirius XM that they would be introducing new Apple-related applications in the second quarter.

Nicemac also posted that they have a new Mac server installsp2survivored and that private testing has begun on their internet radio station with coding started last week on StarPlayr 3.0 for Mac. What makes this more intriguing is the screenshot of the new player which indicates Howard 100 as the selected channel (on right, click to enlarge). As this channel is ONLY available through Sirius XM, it stands to reason that Sirius XM and Nicemac have begun a new Internet Radio venture to compete with free Internet sites such as Pandora.

Position: Long SIRI, no position Apple

Does anyone know the major stumbling block that you would have to hurdle in order to bring sat radio to other parts of the world like china and japan, or europe? Since the North Koreans are so eager to lanch commercial satellites, why not launch one for SIRI!

Looks like your not fired. Hey Brandon, maybe you could talk to seeking Alpha and find out why many of the bloggers were censored. Maybe Seeking alpha didn't realize how many hits to their website that they missed out on. Back when everyone was posting, there was 200 plus comments on just about every siri related article.

It's not the language barrier, it's a limitation of geosynchronous orbit of the satellites.

jmsmithy: The stock is falling because it is a speculation not an investment. It only rose so spectacularly because of terrific short covering. When the shorts jump back in a big way. the ground will be cleared for another rally on anything resembling good news. In the current absence of any news, the stock is simply seeking it's level as a profitable business (which it is not, and won't become).

Lol @ won't become a profitable business. I think you are Jim Cramer, actually.

This company will be profitable easily by the end of this year at the latest. You can write down.

The stock is REALLY failing simply because even with all of this good news, there is still uncertainty to many investors because of the recent bankruptcy scares and the fact that, yes, GM and other automakers are in trouble as well as for the eventual stock dilution via the gift that Mel handed out to Liberty Media earlier this year by way of 40 percent of stock. If Sirius can report better earnings the next quarter, look for the stock to start making its way back up substantially.

I dont think SIRI will need to launch more satelites with these new apps. I think they need to focus on the satelite gps apps and include an app for real time location. This would enable all vehicles on the road to be located instantly. For example. Sell a trucking company about 50-100 subs for each truck and throw in the GPS tracker. This would include GPS for the driver, radio, weather etc. It would also benefit the trucking company by reducing their costs on their current tracking system. This would also work with for families who want to keep track of their kids, their cars and can track the vehicle like Lojack or OnStar. I hope this is where they are headed. Unlimited possibilities for these apps.
