The Seeking Alpha community mourns the tragic and premature death of longtime SA contributor Greg Newton. Dave Fry sadly reports that Greg suffered a fatal heart attack Thursday while driving to meet his fiancee in Florida.

On his blog, Naked Shorts, and on the pages of SA, Greg's witty and biting critique of hedge fund industry hubris proved altogether prescient over the course of the past year.

Our thoughts are with Greg's loved ones at this time.

May he rest in peace.

It was shocking and saddening to hear this news today. The rainy skies in the DC area are fitting. His insights and podcasts with Dave Fry were a regular part of my days. He will be missed.

I loved your writing, Greg! Your articles were insightful and helpful to many thousands of people, and they sparkled with wit. If making other peoples' time on Earth just a bit more enjoyable is the mark of a good life - and I think it is - then you've done well.

    Thank you, and Godspeed,

    -Greg.

You don't know these people personally but because of almost daily contact through SA you begin to build a relationship. You don't realize the extent of the relationship until that author tragically passes on.

I am saddened by this news. Greg's wit and insight will be missed. His musings frequently railed against parts of the hedge fund world that he found to be quite naked and devoid of due diligence, well before the Madoff fiasco gained public notoriety.

My condolences to his family and friends. A life well-lived! Rest in peace.

We came here to seek knowledge from those who wished to share theirs with us. We became friends of those we actually never meet
yet we will miss them . Death is a part of life we wish did not occur yet it has visited our friend Greg who we will all miss.
I hold a hip hip for him,
