Famed investor Peter Lynch liked to advocate for investing in companies that do things that nobody really ever thinks about, or even better, does things that are unpleasant in some fashion. Koppers (NYSE:KOP) arguably fits both of this criteria, as I don't think many investors spend much time contemplating the markets for carbon pitch or creosote, and distillation of coal tar (and its byproducts) are not what I'd call particularly pleasant.
