Emerging markets are at the forefront of growth in the mobile telecommunications sector, with much higher rates of expansion than observed in the developed markets. This trend is expected to intensify in the future, as developed markets such as North America and Western Europe have reached a state of maturity. For instance, Africa offers one the highest growth prospects in the world for telecom companies. More specifically, Africa has the fastest-growing mobile phone market worldwide, given its low mobile phone penetration.
