The table below lists the best and worst performing stocks on the Russell 2000 year to date. We also list the top and bottom 20 stocks from mid-year 2005 to see how they fared for the remainder of the year:

Overall, the top 20 stocks averaged a gain of 9.15% for the second half of 2005 with the top three continuing significantly higher. The bottom 20 stocks continued their slides, going down another 16.12% on average. It's interesting that the top performing stock this year is Medifast (MED), a weight-loss company similar to Nutri/System (NTRI) - the top performing stock at the midway point last year:
