Since my March 6 article titled "3 Stocks With Recent Intensive Insider Buying," the stocks that I featured have performed as follows:

In this article, I will feature three additional stocks that have seen intensive insider buying during the last 30 days. Intensive insider buying can be defined by the following three criteria:

  1. The stock is purchased by three or more insiders within one month.
  2. The stock is sold by no insiders in the month of intensive purchasing.
  3. At least two purchasers increase their holdings by more than 10%.

Vermilion currently expects average production volumes between 39,000 and 40,500 boe/d for 2013, with the mid-point of that range representing approximately 5% production growth over 2012. Looking forward, Vermilion remains positioned to deliver on its production goal of 50,000 boe/d in 2015.

Competition

Vermilion actively competes for reserve acquisitions, exploration leases, licenses and concessions and skilled industry personnel with a substantial number of other oil and gas companies, some of which have significantly greater financial resources than Vermilion. Vermilion's competitors include major integrated oil and natural gas companies and numerous other independent oil and natural gas companies and individual producers and operators.

My analysis

There have been 14 different insiders buying the shares and there have not been any insiders selling the shares during the last 30 days. The management owns 8% of the company. The stock has a $60 price target from the Point and Figure chart. The stock is trading at a P/E ratio of 23.81 and the company has a book value of $14.58 per share. The stock has a dividend yield of 5.04%. The company's P+P reserves are 164.9 mmboe. I believe the stock is a good pick from the current level.

My analysis

There have been four different insiders buying the shares and there have not been any insiders selling the shares since the IPO. All executive officers and directors as a group own 24% of the company. I have a neutral bias for the stock currently based on the significant premium to the IPO price.

Competition in the precious metals mining industry is primarily for:

  1. mineral properties that can be developed and produced economically.
  2. technical expertise that can find, develop, and mine such properties.
  3. labour to operate the properties.
  4. capital to finance operations.

AuRico competes with other mining and exploration companies in the acquisition of mining claims and leases and in connection with the recruitment and retention of qualified employees. There is significant competition for mining claims and leases.

My analysis

There have been 15 different insiders buying the shares and there have not been any insiders selling the shares during the last 30 days. There are two analyst buy ratings, four neutral ratings and zero sell ratings, with an average target price of $8.67. The company's proven and probable gold reserves are 6.8 million ounces. The stock is trading at a forward P/E ratio of 10.09 and the stock has a dividend yield of 3.38%. The company has a book value of $8.13 per share. I believe the stock could be a good pick below the book value.
