I'm no expert on energy stuff, but this chart about diesel fuel demand seems really bearish:

It would seem to match what I've been observing about rail traffic:

There was a blip up in March but it quickly turned back down.

    distillate includes #2 heating oil, jet fuel, as well as diesel. one might expect low diesel demand to correlate with the transportation stock index (a coincident indicator). also if airline travel is depressed that would reduce demand for distillate.

    Great report; short, detailed, relevent. Diesel prices relative to gasoline have plummeted. I wondered if there was a quick correlation to overall shipping and therefore consumption. A leading indicator, as it were. thanks for the data.
