Cramer's Lightning Round - EMC Is Controversial (4/23/13)

by: Miriam Metzinger

Stocks discussed on the Lightning Round segment of Jim Cramer's Mad Money Program, Tuesday April 23.

Bullish Calls:

Vertex Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:VRTX): "I think the stock could go much higher. I say own Vertex. I am not trading it. VRTX has a breakout drug right now. Don't sell your Vertex."

US Airways (LCC): "It reported good earnings and is merging with American Airlines. The merger is unbelievable."

Bearish Calls:

EMC Corporation (EMC), VMware (NYSE:VMW): "EMC is very controversial. We sold a little for our charitable trust today. Why? Tech is still not good. It reports tomorrow. VMware disappointed tonight. EMC owns 80% of VMware."

BlackRock (NYSE:BLK): "Here is the problem with BlackRock and why my charitable trust took a small profit. It is up ten and down ten. Overall, I think it is going to go higher, but that up ten and down ten is not right for the charitable trust. It might be right for someone who doesn't have to worry about ups and downs on a daily basis."

SandRidge Mississippian Trust I (NYSE:SDT): "No thank you. You need to be in an MLP with some growth."

JetBlue (NASDAQ:JBLU): "It is my least favorite of the airlines."

Apache (NYSE:APA): "What a dog that thing has been. The assets are good, but a lot of their business is in Egypt. That is not a sleep at night situation in Egypt. I can't endorse Apache with so many other great oil companies that are inexpensive."
