According to the U.S. Weekly Leading Index (US WLI) released on 08 May 2009 published by Economic Cycle Research Institute (ECRI), the signs of economic improvement are visible. Lakshman Achuthan of ECRI states:

The level of the WLI is fast approaching a six-month high, making it increasingly likely that the U.S. recession will end this summer.

The US WLI has a slight lead over business cycles.

Lakshman Achuthan appeared on Forbes.com Video Network on Thursday. He is now predicting a V-shaped recovery in U.S. economy and stock market this year. This is a much watch video for the Bulls.

As a leading indicator, the WLI is forecasting economic conditions approximately six months in the future. I have simultaneously published a complete economic analysis – please refer to my other article published today.
