Finally! Sprint (S) has officially announced that the Palm Pre will be launching on June 6th for $200 after a $100 MIR and a two-year contract. You’ll be able to purchase a Pre from Sprint, Best Buy, Wal Mart, and Radio Shack.
When purchasing a Palm Pre you must add one of the following plans: Everything Data plan or Business Essentials with Messaging and Data plan, which start out at $70. Also available on launch day are the Palm Touchstone and Touchstone back cover for $50 and $20, respectively. There’s a Touchstone Kit available for $70 that, you know, includes the dock and back cover. That’s it for now.

$300 up-front-walk-out-the-... price for the phone - like it or not.
$70 for the first Touchstone and back - like it or not.
$50 for every extra Touchstone (major marketing point of the Touchstone was you could have one at home and at office) and an ADDITIONAL set of bucks for the CHARGER that the Touchstone uses (unless you want to carry around your Pre charger and plug each Touchstone into it as you arrive at the location!). An expensive Everything plan and an ADDITIONAL cost for that "select" unlimited data plan.
THAT'S what the buyer is confronted with at the store - like it or not.
"Misinformation" my ass - you're going to see massive "Ya gotta be kidding!" comments coming out of no-longer-potential buyers when they see THAT.
No it IS misinformation
Best Buy and Radio Shack don't do mail in rebates yet sell Sprint phones for the same price as their after rebate price so at those stores it will be $199 OUT THE DOOR.
And again the Touchstone dock is optional and not a required accessory. Why don't you just go ahead and tack on a leather case and a car charger to further spread FUD?
How about we talk about Att's iPhone plans vs. Sprint's? To match Sprint's $99 unlimited voice, data, text, and navigation plan requires spending almost $200 on Att. And the Pre also works on Sprint's $69 plan which still offers unlimited data, text, and navigation. How much is that on Att?
Misinformation indeed.
