About this author:

Sirius XM’s (SIRI) annual shareholders meeting will take place Wednesday. Investors are anxiously waiting for news on the long awaited partnership with Apple (AAPL) and any details that will be forthcoming.

Up until now, speculation has been that Sirius XM would wait until early June to introduce its new iPhone and iPod application. Investors need wait no more, for the day is finally here!

One of the newest and most popular Sirius XM Radio channels is Doctor Radio which can be heard 24 hours a day/7 days a week on Sirius and XM.

An alert Satwaves reader has sent in this link which links to Apple’s iTunes store. The application is described as:

‘Reach MD Medical Radio delivers world class medical content directly from Reach MD, the leader in medical education and information for medical professionals. All of the programming is broadcast on their exclusive Sirius XM channel 160…”

The application offers listeners the ability to listen to a live stream of EXCLUSIVE content (a point Satwaves has been driving for weeks now) and access to over 5000 podcasts as well.

What is most interesting is that this application seems to not be part of a single Sirius XM application, but rather as exclusive content to Apple!

Is this a sign of things to come? This one application signals a larger scale partnership with Apple rather than a simple iPhone application that has been speculated. Sirius investors may need a doctor from the shock they may be about to experience.

Position: Long SIRI

Hey Brandon, I am a big supporter of S-XM, but your article seems a bit over the top. A 'partnership' with Apple? While you could point to Websters and say that any type of relationship between two entitities is a form of partnership, in the biz world, suggesting a partnership between Apple and S-XM is really overreaching. As of now, the only relationship that has been publicly discussed is an iPhone app which S-XM will submit to Apple for the iPhone app store, joining thousands of such apps. All those app developers/companies are 'partners' I guess. Now, perhaps you have the inside scoop, and Apple will indeed ACTIVELY co-promote S-XM programming. That would indeed be a welcomed partnership. Will that happen? Beats me. And, that bit about the doctor program.....that sounds like Apple and S-XM each have a licensing agreement with the content provider. I think you are over stating the reality here.

    underway,
All you have to do is read the "Postion: Long SIRI" to understand why this article is so biased towards SIRI. I don't understand how Seeking Alpha can even be remotely considered a legitimate place to get financial news (at least about SIRI). All of the SIRI articles are massively biased. What they do should be illegal.

I am a big satrad fan and hope S-XM succeeds. However, you have to be blind not to see that any SIRI article from Seeking Alpha is completely void of any usefly information or insight.

“In May, ReachMD expects to have another iPhone app on the market that enables access to all of its XM Satellite Radio station’s content, not just the CME content. During the week ReachMD broadcasts talk radio style conversations about news and trends of interest to the medical industry. This content typically takes the format of doctors discussing issues with doctors, which the company describes as easy listening for physicians.”

I agree, I think he is trying to short sell, so he bashes the stock trying to drive the price down. If he is not invested, then why does he care what others think or if they invest. I'm in for the long term.

Satellite radio will succeed when Sirius management understands that the service must have a zero-cost pathway for listeners who are satisfied with terrestrial radio to make a step toward satellite listening. However, there must be something that justifies the equipment expense for people to have a receiver installed in their car.

This will happen when a commercial tier of satellite service is made available to the public for free, and always free, just as terrestrial radio is. The programming on that tier must be of a high quality and variety to serve as an alternative to radio available in most terrestrial markets. Satellite news can be specially designed to satisfy to some degree, the hard-to duplicate local news of the terrestrial radio markets. This free service would draw new customers from the the huge pool of potential listeners who will install new SAT+FM+AM (+CD) receivers instead of simple FM AM(+CD) radios. The free tier would also carry advertising that promoted the quality and variety available to them at special intro subscrition rates, and thus serve to continually offer attractive subscription packages to people listening on the free tier. The free tier of programming only need be of slightly better quality and variety but with fewer commercial breaks than terrestrial radio to convey something of the experience of satellite listening.

This is their natural marketing path to drawing the customers necessary to survive. This service could work in conjunction with free trials offered to new vehicle owners. I believe this approach has always been needed and musty be in place as an incentive to bring terrestrial radio listeners a step closer to the quality and variety available on satellite.

Well thats not true that people dont want this stock / this has hovered for 2 weeks after dropping to the same lvl where it was on April 16th of 2009 / after people like you short sold the stock / this will rise again / because if people didnt want it then this would be back at .15 right before the bankruptcy avoidance happened... look it up and see the trends I dont go off what people say here / only off of the main reports / if it made a difference what people post here or what Seeking Alpha spews out when it comes to certian things this stock would be at a 1.00 by now it is like Fools on how they bash the stock it is not real news

Don't be bitter that the stock is no longer at .05. It is going up. With the refi, this now is a broken stock, NOT a broken company. We are looking at this price due to a complete fall off the cliff from autos. However, if SIRI finds some way (read smart phone apps) to relinquish itself from its tie to autos, this stock should go up more. Also, don't underestimate the power of an offer to buy the company in the stock price going up. Finally, don't underestimate the power of a new personality coming to the radio. I have heard rumblings throughout my research of this company that a Reallity Radio channel is in the works. Pure rumor, but I think it would be huge for this company. 100 million people voted on the last show of American Idol. Can you imagine the following that a Reality Radio channel would have.

Take a look at the supposed insider "sales". An automatic buy for 5 insiders occurred on 19 May. On 20 May the same 5 insiders sold only 10% of the recently acquired shares. This is simply their compensation. Huge insider selling, NOT!!! Get your facts straight "another new screen name." You should be removed for this abuse.

A reality show that you can't view?????? I like Siri/XM but I don't think anyone will give a hoot about a reality show they can't watch. I can't even stand most reality shows on TV and I definetely don't think I would ever listen to one while driving my car. I like SiriXM for its music content. I can always rely on Siri to deliver the most up to date and live music. I just don't think the masses would care about a reality channel on satellite radio.

Mr. Karmizan and Mr. Malone are going to make serious bucks for share holders of this stock in the long term. Direct TV is linked to ATT. Apple is linked to ATT. My prediction is that ATT buys Direct TV and in turn indirectly purchases SIRI, who Direct TV has a large stake. Think about who does the service for I Phone. Apple. SIRI and Direct TV are setting up for an ATT acquision and IPhone platform. This appears to be a no brainer to me. More to come.

Sirius XM (SIRI Quote) may be worth watching, as the company will hold its annual shareholder meeting at 9 a.m. EDT in New York. The meeting will be the first since Liberty Media's $530 million loan infusion, which helped diffuse worries the satellite radio giant's debt load would force the company into bankruptcy.

At Sirius XM's last meeting, shareholders approved measures that allowed it to raise the number of shares outstanding from 4.5 billion shares to 8 billion shares. Shareholders also approved an amendment that permitted the board of directors to initiate a reverse stock split by a ratio of not less than 1-for-10 and not more than 1-for-50.

General Motors (GM Quote) will also be closely watched as the deadline for a GM bankruptcy filing nears. On Tuesday, shares rebounded sharply after several positive headlines for the company, including reports that the United Auto Workers union will own 17.5% of the automaker under an agreement that has been reached.
However, bondholders face a midnight deadline for an offer of a 10% stake in the restructured automaker in return for their $27 billion in debt. CNBC reported that the number of bondholders likely to accept was in the single digits, well below the 90% required for the deal to happen. If the offer is not accepted and the deadline is not extended, GM could file for bankruptcy court protection in the next few days.

double could be positive for Siri stock

Nobody here is trying to get anyone to buy this stock by fluffing it. At this point SIRI is like a lottery ticket with 50/50 odds. If these were the odds for you local lottery people would flock to buy some tickets. Thats all some are doing here and are posting possibilities about what the future of the company may hold. Somehow, I don't see people listening to a whole lot of radio on a device that has no way to pop in fresh batteries. A brand-new iPhone is good for "up to" 5 hours of 3G communications; "up to" probably doesn't apply to continuously-streamed data. And AT&T may not be too thrilled with streaming audio clogging their network. This could be one of those ideas that sound great but never fly. If SIRI compresses the information and transmits it in bursts, on the other hand, it could be workable.

As the quote from the ReachMD (the developer of the iPhone app) site "About" page shows, the web streaming service already exists. The SIRI channel appears just to be one distribution mechanism used by the service - now the iPhone will be another. Net Loss to SIRI - if you own an iPhone, why subscribe?
