Michael Baker Corporation (BKR) actually made money in the first quarter this year. $7.8 million was their reported net income.

Michael Baker Corporation provides engineering and energy services to public and private sector clients worldwide through its operating subsidiaries. The Energy segment provides a range of services to operating energy production facilities worldwide.

With the world governments lowering interest rates and printing money, the price of energy is likely to rise. Because this company provides energy services, I suspect they will benefit from a rise in oil prices.

Fundamentally

The company has a good free cash flow generation and growth, efficient mangement of woring capital, and a positive operating income relative to marekt valuation.

Technically

The company is trading above its 200 day moving average.

Sentiment Measured by Price to Earnings (ttm)

The P/E ratio for BKR, according the Yahoo! Finance, is 11.02, which is lower than the S&P 500's 11.98.

Recent brokerage analyst sentiment change

On Wednesday, May 27th Zacks Investment Research upgraded Michael Baker Corp. (BKR) to "#1 company rank".

Currently Michael Baker is trading at $38.25. My clients bought this stock for around $25. However, even at $38.25 BKR looks better than the average stock in the S&P 500.

Disclosure: Long BKR.

Nice to see Zack's with their awesome ranking 20 points after the move. BKR is a nice stock, but this article is lacking a lot of depth and really any fundamental reason to own the stock. Just because oil is going up and BKR provides oil services must mean it will go up!!! Does that imply we can throw a dart at oil service stocks and make money on all of them? It's fine to have a macro-perspective, however with stock picking, you are trying to find the BEST way to play that trend. Since you are writing about BKR, I suspect that's your horse, but give some supporting evidence at least. Above the 200 day MA and it made money? Really, is that what is acceptable for your clients with regards to due diligence?

No mention of the cyclicality of oil and how low P/Es aren't always a good indicator for the sector? Look up historical valuations of oil stocks when crude was at $140, I'll tell you, they were low.

You mention you are aware of no other mutual fund that has replicated your performance over the past five years... Then why haven't you started one yourself? Model portfolios are fun and all, but what counts is your reaction when there is actually money on the line.

Further, from your profile and website it is hard to discern whether you actually trade stocks for your clients, or if you just toss them into mutual funds like your typical RIA would do. Also, you might want to proofread some of your information before sending it through the intertubes, I count three errors alone in this posting, and more if you want to look at your investment website.
