Ran across this article posted in Jumping In Pools. Not sure how credible it is, but allegedly Barack Obama will provide the blueprints for the B-2 stealth bomber to China in exchange for $50 billion in debt relief. According to author Richard Hogarty:

According to the Administration, this proposal will help the United States resolve its debt issues. They point out their belief that the B-2 bomber is "strategically obsolete", according to a source in the White House Press Office. In addition, the source claims that the Chinese would be unable to create their own functioning stealth bomber fleet for "at least eight years."

American allies Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea are very wary of the proposal. Koo Syi, a geopolitical analyst from South Korea, points out that this technology could be passed to China's allies. This was the case when Chinese nuclear technology was transferred to Pakistan and North Korea. According to Koo, Obama has rendered US allies' opinions as "irrelevant."

While this proposal is controversial, it is not being presented to Congress, where it could meet with stern opposition. Instead, the State Department has been informed to assist the Defense Department with the transfer of materials.

A little skeptical here as frankly $50 billion is less than a drop in the bucket of Chinese Treasury holdings which are easily well over $1 trillion. The economic impact of this transaction would be negligible to zero. On the other hand, if this ends up being true, it is quite frightening, as it merely demonstrates, aside from all the scary geo-political considerations, just how bad of a dealmaker our President is.

In other China-related news, Reuters reporting that Tim Geithner's soothing words from his Beijing whirlwind tour that "Chinese assets are very safe," drew loud laughter from the audience.

"Chinese assets are very safe," Geithner said in response to a question after a speech at Peking University, where he studied Chinese as a student in the 1980s.

His answer drew loud laughter from his student audience, reflecting scepticism in China about the wisdom of a developing country accumulating a vast stockpile of foreign reserves instead of spending the money to raise living standards at home.

Alas, laughter is more and more the traditional response when other economies consider the sustainability of the ongoing economic fiasco developing before our eyes (and this author's response to the continued market manipulation)

Where's the sources on this? This story is crap- Obama may be a socialist, but he's not about to give away the trump cards to American military hegemony.

Without getting into particular details about the B2, this deal is a non-starter. The amount of classified information transfer this entails makes zero sense and the political backlash would be suicide. From a "short on cash" perspective, it makes more sense to sell the F22 to friendly NATO countries (or Israel) for several billion dollars and save 80,000 jobs in sveral swing states.

Indeed from the look of the original blog post, it was either an April Fools Joke or partisan trash talk.

Looks like their are no shortage of fools from a community of supposedly intelligent investors.

I guess if we can't kill our Creditors (in this civil world) we may as well arm and enable them to threaten us later when we don't pay our debts........(sarcasm intended).

If there is real substance to this story Tyler we are truly in deep s**t. Appreciate the the heads up though. I read the whole posted article with dismay. But then I recalled the estimates I had seen about how many Chinese spies were stealing technologies out of our Universities, research institutions and corporate boardrooms without so much as a whimper of objection or even a small CNBC news-bite.

We are too trusting in the West. We need to learn to close some shops to all but our own people. Period. We need to show the rest of the world that we cannot be bought. Not at any price.

And before any of the "libs" out there start getting on my case about racism, you had better read up on the facts about how our "friendly" relationship with Asia has put us all at risk as China deploys not hundreds, but thousands of people to gather intelligence on the West and more specifically on the US. through such simple means as college and university exchange and scholarship programs.

But I am wasting my words. Nobody in this country really sees the threat as real. When you tell them about it you just get blank stares and a look of disbelief as though you just farted in the company of the Queen of England. And then they suggest you are crazy!

That pretty much shuts up all debate here though doesn't it. We don't want to be crazy,..even if we are right.

AJB7, with all due respect, I WANT U.S. government leaders to be discredited. We are currently and empire instead of the republic that our founding fathers envisioned, and Pres. Bush and Obama had no problem furthering an imperialf vision by going to the printing press.

Moreover, I would have no problem with the U.S. "falling apart" into separate nations. Simply put, force is not a just reason for keeping the Union together. As we've seen countless times in business, sometimes "small is beautiful." The same can be said for nations.

Again, it doesn't matter. If the average voter ends up doubting Pres. Obama's leadership ability, the story will have done what it aimed to do: raise questions in voters' minds.

Again, remember the Clinton Body Count story? Many Clinton associates turned up dead. The not-so-subtle hint was that Pres. Clinton somehow had them killed. Not said was that many of the associates were alcoholics, smokers, and drug users. Logic would tell a person that alcoholics, smokers, and drug users may just die sooner than average folk. Many on the right didn't stop to think logically, they worked themselves up into a hatred for Pres. Clinton during the 1994 election cycle. Guess what? It worked! The GOP seized congress for the first time since the 1950s.

To be fair, the left also uses such tactics. During the '04 election, Kanye West said that Pres. Bush didn't care about black people. Question: how would Kanye West know what Pres. Bush's subjective belief unless Pres. Bush specifically told him? Again, it didn't matter; many voters believed it and voted for Sen. Kerry.

In WWII, Erwin Rommel, the "Desert Fox" used cardboard cutouts of tanks to fool the Allies, and he was thought a genius. The point is that deception is totally acceptable in politics just as it is in war, it has been since the American Revolution. Those of you who take your toys and leave SA seem to ignore this fact.

I can agree, this might be a good thought. I live in Austria, and we have no intention of getting into this Eu thing to heavily. In small countries you still have stronger contact to government, the companies and the way of live.
Big is not better as we currently see. I think this should also be valid for stocks, people always tend to go for the big things.

    Tyler,

It is extremely irresponsible of you to propagate an unreferenced and highly questionable article such as this. I follow you on seeking alpha because your writing demonstrated a level-headed individual who was devoted to disseminating truth above all else. Until there is just one single source for this "news," you are spreading rumors and gossiping. These are the comments from the bigots who like reading and spreading this type of information:

"I beleive every word of it, o'banana is an agent of communists and arabs, and my only surprise is 'what took so long'?"
    -BuffettHater

"Wake Up Stupid White Race!! This Usurper Commie Nigger would sell his own mother out. I would not shed a tear if someone killed it."
    -Pissed Off MadDog

"That fucking nigger is a communist and will sell the USA out. What a piece of shit. Where the fuck is that coon birth certificate and his college records? That jig needs to be taken out of office either vertical or horizontal-the latter preferred. Isn't his hero the other sell out in our history Lincoln. Doesn't that splib have a play to attend?"
    -jjr

"It is obvious that Obongo was placed into power, in part, with the assistance of the Chinese Gov´t to destroy America and to empower China for it´s eventual take-over of America, along with it´s anti-Christian, Communist Gov´t. Obongo is a traitor and an AntiChrist figure in these end times. Understand white people, that there is a war against YOU!
Your body, mind and spirit are under attack by the forces of darkness and evil by a very real SATAN!"
    -RJames

...etc etc... these are the people that eat this up, hook, line, and sinker. Are you one of them? Is Richard Hogarty's word enough for you? People read you, respect you, and believe what you write. There is some responsibility in that. Maybe this will turn out to be true, but it's too big an allegation to recklessly spread without any type of source. Anyone could have made this up.

There are already plenty of reasons to have doubts about our current President. Anyone who looks at what he has done since taking office has to wonder whether he is merely incompetent or is trying to tear down this country's position in the world as a deliberate course of action.

I have no doubt that the President and his advisors have trampled the laws of this country in the way they have siphoned off taxpayer funds to promote their own political agendas.

Failed institutions should be allowed to fail. Shoring up a faltering economy by putting a nation's currency in deep peril doesn't make sense unless you are totally desperate, or an out of control gambler.

Look around you and ask whether the current economic climate is robust enough to warrant the present level of the stock market. The President needs to make a full and complete disclosure concerning his part in manipulating the investment exchanges.

Oh for crying out loud "Retard",

I was not referring to education. China has taken information collection and made it an art-form. We are an open economy. We trust and host those from all over the world in an exchange of ideas, research and cooperative endeavors. There is nothing wrong with that.

But do not think for a moment that this openness is not being exploited as a weakness because it is. We have always been at risk because of how our society functions and that openness is creating risks for us in a world headed for new conflicts. Resources of all types are scarce and becoming scarcer while the worlds population is growing at breakneck speed. In normal times that is a problem but in the cauldron of economic breakdown those factors represent a recipe for conflict going forward.

The Chinese are not benign. They are growing in influence around the world and they have first class labs, manufacturing capabilities, an inquisitive population, centralized political control and ambitions.
They are hands down the single biggest threat to our way of life. And now they are in a strong position with their wealth of foreign exchange earnings.

Are we being targeted specifically. Yes. And so is Europe, Africa and most parts of Asia. There is an almost one-way exchange of ideas and people coming from China and they are using their low cost of labor and their economic edge in conjunction with our open social and business model to take advantage of our most valuable resources. It's about knowledge. It is about invention and ideas. And the US is still the greatest single source of knowledge on earth, hosting a pool of talent, research facilities, resources and ideas envied over the globe.

All our industries are under attack from counterfeiters. Think name-brand products, textiles, computers, music, pharmaceuticals, aviation, semiconductors, electronics, emerging technologies and medicine. No major area of US dominance is exempt. Secrets are stolen daily and reverse engineering of products is an industry in it's own rights in China now. They have the capacity. They have the people and they have the will to replace us as the worlds superpower.

You are simply a fool to think otherwise.

    Cam

Actually, it's not. By the middle of this century, about 75% of the developed world will be at BELOW replacement level, according to the Census Bureau. In 1990, the world's women, on average, were giving birth to 3.3 children over their lifetimes. By 2002 the average was 2.6.

All very true. They are also fanatical savers, on average saving almost 40% of their income!

    > They are hands down the single biggest threat to our way of life.

Here I disagree: Government (i.e. the federal government and the Federal Reserve) is the single biggest threat to our way of life. It is government that has debased our currency, borrowed more than we can ever pay off, and created a culture of dependency and entitlement among the American people. The Chinese did not do this.

I stand by my comments Carlos.

It is not racism, it is realism and that is clear from my remarks.
The West is on a collision course with the East now though and resource control is at it's heart. China is making huge investments in Africa (hardly on the radar here at home) and in South America. Offers to buy into Canada's tar sands and oilfields on the other hand have been rebuffed. Why is that I wonder? Would you suggest racism is at the heart of excluding Chinese investment in strategic North America energy plays? They did take a controlling interest in Husky Oil though as I recall but clearly there are limits to the investments that are permitted on our shores. These decisions are determined at the highest political level and China knows the rules.

Ask yourself, if China has the resources and the income (our wasted money naturally) why have they not already converted it into real ownership of US energy companies as one single example. They can afford it. The answer to that question is that some business and industry is simply off-limits at any price. It does not even need to be written or codified in law to be fact. It is fact already.

My comments have nothing to do with race,...only money and influence as they affect the balance of power and by virtue, our way of life. Some industrial and commodity targets of Chinese money are off-limits when they come to our shores.

    I stand by my comments.

It wasn't me who accused you of racism; it was some other bloke who went by the handle of "retard," and his comments aptly reflected that name.

I disagreed with your comment regarding overpopulation. Simply put, birth rates are declining pretty quickly. In some nations, like Japan and Russia, there will be real population problems because of the ratio of older citizens to young.

I also disagreed with you regarding the threat posed by China. You argue that China is "hands down the single biggest threat to our way of life." I countered that the federal government and Federal Reserve are the biggest threat because it is those institutions that "debased our currency, borrowed more than we can ever pay off, and created a culture of dependency and entitlement among the American people."
