Wow, just think of all the words I was able to rhyme with the word that Microsoft (MSFT) has slated for their new search engine "Bing." Trying to come up with a smidgen of words to describe Microsoft's predecessor "MSN Search" would have been futile at best.
I was really impressed by Bing's ease of use and quick results. Can this be the Google (GOOG) killer that the world has been waiting for? It is too early to say, however, it is definately a step in the right direction. Bing has added a myriad of colors to their basic search page, and the engine is able to add relevant information to search results.
Microsoft will embark on an $80 milion dollar ad campaign to showcase this new search engine. Another company that is sure to fret is Yahoo (YHOO). Remember, just a short while back, Yahoo turned down a very generous offer from MSFT at $31 per share. Since then Yahoo's shares had tumbled below $10 and have recoverd to about $15 a share today. It is too early to say what effect MSFT's new search engine may have on Yahoo and Google. However, Yahoo has regretted turning down the original deal and Bing is likely to sting Yahoo in the months ahead. Will people learn to sing about Bing as Microsoft's cash register starts to ring?
