As the stage is set for Apple’s (AAPL) World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) Monday, investors in Sirius XM (SIRI) are ripe in anticipation, and for good reason. There have been a number of clues leading into the conference that suggest the long anticipated iPhone/iPod application will be unveiled in tandem with news coming from the conference. The excitement is not without good cause. Sirius XM management has stated on more than one occasion that the company would be introducing its application in the second quarter. There have been many circumstantial developments as well.

Last week, Satwaves announced that Sirius XM had added over 20 new Internet channels to its list of offerings. Forum members were also privy to a small piece of data that can be found in Sirius XM’s online player. Hidden in that code, is a “buy now” button that as yet has not been activated, which many suspect is soon to be revealed as a new MP3 download feature, possibly tied directly to Apple’s (AAPL) iTunes.

Code:

<!– COPY:START –>
<div class=”t2wb” id=”artist”></div>
<div class=”t5wb” id=”title”></div>
<div id=”buynow”></div>
<!– COPY:END –>

Code:

/* opens new window for buy now link */
function openBuyNow(url) {
var newWin = window.open(url,”",”");
return;

}

Another overlooked clue comes from Belkin, a supplier of Satellite Radio accessories which last Thursday announced TuneCast Auto Live; an FM transmitter for broadcasting your iPhone’s audio through your car’s stereo system. Most aftermarket Satellite Radio enthusiasts are already familiar with this concept, as existing legacy receivers are equipped with such an option.

From an Apple perspective, it is now a widely held belief that the price point of the iPhone will be lowered to just under $100.00 for the existing 3G version, as some speculate the introduction by Steve Jobs himself of the newer 4G model. If this speculation turns out to be reality, it will mean millions more iPhones in the hands of consumers which will serve to benefit application developers.

Finally, there is the infamous Howard Stern, who is reportedly scheduled to make an appearance on David Letterman Monday night. Could an announcement be brewing Monday? Will Howard make the announcement Mon night? For Sirius XM investors it’s not a question of “if,” it’s only a question of “when.”

Position: Long SIRI

    I think it is high time that siri starts to do something. i have been waiting for a couple of yrs. with all the good news it ought to be doing something. i think the main problem is not enough advertisement. siri-xm you are weak on advertising, in order to get the product out there in the public eye you have got to let them know. that is elementary. why isn't something more done. this is getting fustrating. the stock does nothing. come mel, this is not fair to the shareholders. do something. for a concerned stockholder. it is high time to step up to the plate. is only the management making big money? what happened to the faithful stockholders. are they being lift out? the product is good and people will buy but, they have to know about the product. again,,, ADVERTISE, ADVERTISE, ADVERTISE. do we have to say it again. do your job. get on the ball with this. i am not a stockholder for nothing. t.m.

    Smartphone Score: Pandora 4 Sirius XM 0
    June 11, 2009 (8:45 am) Charles
    Its been 11 months since the Apple iPhone App Store opened its doors and over a billion downloads later, there is still no sign of an official Sirius XM iPhone application. I should probably mention that the guys at Sirius XM have been saying that we should expect one “soon” which has fans everywhere asking the question… what the heck is taking so long?

    As if things weren’t hard enough for fans of the Satellite Radio giant Sirius XM, yesterday they were dealt another blow when free internet radio specialists Pandora came through with a new application for the recently released Palm Pre. How is it that companies like Pandora, who by the way, had the most downloaded iPhone application of the entire year, can manage to turn out new applications in a matter of days while Sirius XM fans have had to endlessly wait?

    Pandora now has a dedicated “on the go” page featuring free applications for four of the top smartphone platforms including the likes of Balckberry, iPhone, Windows mobile, and now, the only days old, Palm Pre. For those of you who might not know, the Palm Pre has only been on the market for a matter of days and already Pandora is locked, loaded, and ready to go.

    The fact that the Pandora iPhone application was the most downloaded application of the entire year should be sounding off alarms in the heads of the movers and shakers at Sirius XM. There have been millions of iPhones sold and billions of applications downloaded and where was the biggest market? The audio entertainment market. What more do the people at Sirius XM need to see and how long will their loyal subscribers have to wait before they realize the importance of this new delivery system, which their fans won’t stop begging for and at the same time can put their content into the ears of millions of untapped consumers?

    this stock has always traded between .30 and .35 for the last 4 months after it got its 530 mil transfusion with out that the stock would basically be trading at .13 like it was back in Feb so if you look at it this way the stock has not gone beyond .13 if it didnt have its lifeline. There has been nothing with this stock for the last 6 months. You would at least have something on the iphone app. seeking alpha has not even written anything new as well since Monday.
