China is up more than 60% year-to-date and many other emerging markets continue to outperform equity indices in the developing world, proving once again that the overseas exposure is an important part of a portfolio.

After examining ratings from 13 firms on 29 countries and regions, research firm Birinyi Associates found that the Street heavily favours investments in India. Brazil is a close second. Strategists are most cautious on Australia and Chile.

The firm noted that UBS recently upgraded Europe from “underweight” to “overweight” and Citigroup downgraded Russia from “overweight” to “underweight.”
