Remember that rumor two months ago about Steve Jobs going to Memphis to receive medical treatment?
Apparently, it was true.
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Jobs had a liver transplant in Tennessee about two months ago. The story says he is recovering well and should come back to work on schedule at the end of this month, although he may initially work part time. The WSJ also said acting CEO Tim Cook may take a “more encompassing role,” and could soon be added to the Apple board.
Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Jobs himself so far are not commenting on the reports. The Journal did not give a source for the information about the liver transplant. The piece noted that one reason for doing the procedure in Tennessee is that the state has a much shorter waiting list for liver transplants than many other states.
