Nike (NKE) is expected to report Q4 earnings after the market close on Wednesday, June 24 with a conference call scheduled for 5:00 pm ET.
Guidance
Analysts are looking for a profit of 96c on revenue of $4.74B. The consensus range is 85c-$1.03 for EPS, and revenue of $4.58B-$4.98B, according to First Call. On May 15, the Associated Press reported that Nike would cut about 5% of its global workforce, or about 1,750 jobs. The company, which did not specify which departments the cuts would be in, said about 500 jobs will be cut at Nike's world headquarters in Oregon. Nike previously halted production at four Asian plants as a result of declining global consumer demand.
Analyst Views
Christoper Svezia, an analyst at Susquehanna, believes the estimated $200M in savings from the cuts will help the company's bottom line over the next three quarters. He said Nike is likely to take a "more conservative approach" in the near-term as it looks to improve earnings. He said the company is well-positioned to grow when an economic recovery begins. Shares are up nearly 36% in the quarter.
