China is likely to block the acquisition of Hummer by Sichuan Tengzhong:

Hummer, as an expensive, gas-guzzling sports utility vehicle, would not fit in with the government’s policy of encouraging energy-efficient vehicles, the radio said.

Could this be the beginning of the end of China importing carbon emissions from the US?

China could not support 1 billion Internal Combustion ("IC") cars; but there could be 1 billion EVs powered by solar on the home's rooftop or the space where the car parks at night.

    Perhaps true.

But I am not sure there are space to park 1 billion EVs at night or during the day, unless they also grow rice or raise chicken on the EV's roof tops.

I think China will go ahead with the acquisition on the bases of using the design technology for an upgraded military vehicle for their own use, possibly exported to other militaries, based on the present Hummer in use with American forces.

agreed, the military and general off-road uses of this vehicle must be attractive to the chinese government,

One thing is for sure: the Chinese will ONLY do what is in their best interests. If there is not a clear benefit for them, it won't happen. The U.S. has tried to be the helpful big brother to the world, and it has contributed to our downfall. The Chinese will not do that.

"Too Dirty Even for the Chinese"? Why is it OK to disparage a race of people in that manner?

Disparage a people? Get serious! They are the worlds most unforgiving polluters. No respect for their fellow citizens, the environment and none for anyone else. Take a tour and then see how trivial any comment anyone can make, however disparaging, is only a fraction as bad as what they are doing to themselves.
    Honestly, get real.

The most pollution vehicles make is when they are built; that is why vehicles like th F250 and the Hummer H2, which will last several hundred thousand miles on average, make less pollution than the current crop of hybrids, as a matter of fact. Feel free to disabuse yourselves of your ignorance. Fine job of writing up a rumor that has turned out to be false Felix.

Yes China will probably buy the Hummer for military use (its a superb vehicle) and also to sell in US for those who dont like the little tin cans the govt. has ready for us.

Where is the infrastructure to support all these
electric vehicles? And how much will the power
cost if we get "cap&tax"? Just how practical will
these vehicles be in less-than-ideal weather?
Sound's like an arbitrary plan to me; just what

you'd expect from a dictator president.

It's not okay...and as usual...the author puts a negative slant on what the article stated. The primary reason the Chinese Government is pushing back on the idea is because they feel the company doesn't have the necessary skill and experience to run an auto manufacturing operation. The secondary reason was because the vehicles don't fit in with the Governments push for cleaner air. Really...this was a stupid statement because the intent is to continue to build the Hummers here for at least the next two years. I highly doubt they would import them to China.

O are we not buying enough from China -- just maybe if we didn't buy so much from China they may be able shut some down of their factories
