New regulations on the financial industry have created a big opportunity for many mortgage originators, as large financial institutions like Bank of America Corp. (NYSE:BAC) and Wells Fargo & Co. (NYSE:WFC) were forced to shed their capital-intensive mortgage servicing businesses in order to stay ahead of new capital requirement rules. The result has been a sizeable opportunity for many mortgage-servicing companies like Walter Investment Management Corp. (NYSEMKT:WAC).
