Cramer's Lightning Round - Peabody Is the Best of a Bad Coal Situation (7/15/09)

by: Miriam Metzinger

Stocks discussed on the lightning round session of Jim Cramer's Mad Money TV Program, Wednesday July 15.

Bullish Calls:

China Unicom (NYSE:CHU): "You know I do not recommend any individual Chinese stocks on the show, other than CHU. because they are going to be one of the big suppliers of the iPhone in China, which I think is going to be huge... and, do not forget, there's a lot of people in China!"

Altria (NYSE:MO): "I think you have to go with Altria. It's starting to make a move. It had a great quarter. It bought U.S. Tobacco, so it's going to have growth from snuff. That's your play."

Peabody Energy (BTU): "We don't like coal on this show because President Obama seems to be not that big a fan of coal... Peabody is the play for this situation."

Allos Therapeutic (NASDAQ:ALTH): "I think you've got horse sense. It's a speculative situation. I think that's the right place to be. Even congress, under commissar Pelosi... has blessed biotech."

TEPPCO Partners (TPP): "Teppco is in merger...Yes, and you've got a very good one."

AT&T (NYSE:T): "I like the yield. I think it's safe... if there's any pickup in the enterprise corporate business, AT&T will be good. I reiterate my buy. I also reiterate that I have been wrong on AT&T... but I've been wrong about it being the right place to be in this market..."

Bearish Calls:

A-Power Energy (NASDAQ:APWR): "You know, I think they're good... I wish I knew more about the Chinese market. You know I do not recommend any individual Chinese stocks on the show, other than China Unicom."

Reynolds American (NYSE:RAI): " I don't want to mess with an inferior-quality company like Reynolds American. Make that move."

Tata Motors (NYSE:TTM): "No. Ta Ta for now... Sell, sell, sell! We are not buyers of any, any automobile stock."

Patriot Coal (PCX)

Toll Brothers (NYSE:TOL): "I do not want to buy the homebuilders."

Tim Hortons (THI): "It happens to be one of the great doughnut plays...I now feel like I'm too late. I am not going to pull the trigger on Tim Horton... don't buy, don't buy."
