Time Warner's Warner Brother's unit was the biggest winner at last night's Academy Awards landing four key Oscars for the Clint Eastwood/Hillary Swank film Million Dollar Baby.

  • Million Dollar Baby won awards for Best Picture, Best Actress (Swank), Best Supporting Actor (Morgan Freeman) and Best Director (Eastwood).
  • Miramax's The Aviator won more awards (5), but only Cate Blanchett's Best Supporting Actress is considered a high profile win.  The others were for Cinematography, Editing, Art Direction and Costume Design.
  • Following up to its clean sweep at the Annies, Pixar's (PIXR) The Incredibles beat out Dreamworks' Shrek 2 again.  The Incredibles also won an Oscar for Sound Editing.

Quick Comments:  The famous 'Oscar bounce' should help Million Dollar Baby with film, and especially, DVD sales.  The film has grossed $65 million to date; it first opened in only 145 theaters, later expanding to over 2,000.
