Hibbett Sports (HIBB) just came off its worst annual performance since 2008, although its share price has grown at a pace of over 170 percent since that year - including the last 12 months - during which the stock price was up by less than 3 percent. That was reflected in the year-over-year revenue growth of only 3 percent.
As with many retailers, the weak performance was attributed to wetter weather and a colder spring, which had a significant impact on baseball-related sales, the largest team sports market Hibbett serves. It of course also had an impact on sales for other spring sports and activities.
