I recently wrote an article regarding the futility of estimating potential subscriber numbers when it comes to Sirius XM Radio (SIRI). For years, Sirius XM inflated its subscriber numbers by reporting OEM promotional subscriptions and self paid subscriptions as a single, all inclusive barometer of Satellite Radio’s growth. As auto sales have slowed, that strategy has come back to haunt the company. Promotional subscribers peaked in the second quarter of 2008. A weaker auto environment in the second quarter of 2009 all but guarantees a loss in promotional subs year over year when the company reports its second quarter results in early August.

None of this is a surprise, however, because none of this is important in that the promotional sub “yardstick” was always a flawed measure of success. The true measure of any company’s success or failure has always been and should always be, its potential and actual revenue growth. Everything else is just smoke and mirrors. As an example, Wall Street does not particularly care how many people clicked or placed a Google (GOOG) ad last year so much as it cares how much Google realized in actual sales.

In the past year, Sirius XM Radio has managed to engineer some ingenious methods of growing revenue as it controls costs. One example can be found in the recently imposed $2.00 royalty fee. This modest increase, although less than consumer friendly, is applauded by Wall Street. That small $2.00 fee alone can mean $30 million a month or $360 million a year in increased revenue based on only 15 million subscribers. Premium Internet streaming, which is required for iPhone users, carries a $3.00 charge. Other upgrades can cost 4.00 per month or more.

None of these new revenue streams was available last year and all of the preceding are reasons to expect significant year over year revenue increases when Sirius XM reports its second quarter results in the coming weeks, which could result in the company posting a first ever E.P.S. profit despite a weak economic environment.

Position: Long SIRI

If hes not bashing the stock, then why does he copy and paste the same WRONG information over and over again. I respect your opinions. In my opinion.
Melanie, what is a high school girl holding 100k in siriusxm for? Thats interesting in and of itself. Girl/boy anyone that young holding stock is rare.
I thought your generation was "out of touch" with siriusxm? Is this true, as bashers claim? Can you give us a point of view from you end of things?

    Ok relm

First, thank you for requesting proof. I would not have felt justified in reposting all the bad history of SIRI on this board without your request for information. You’re a true sport for helping. This article had a terrifically popular title that was sure to get some reading. Your help was valuable.

I ended my day of playing with you at 1pm. So, I hope you are done playing with yourself. You have added at least 4 UserID’s to the old list. You sure have shown your butt today.

You should try to change your writing style when you change userIDs.

Someday you could grow up and realize that other people have opinions and freedom to express your opinion is a good thing. But, a child like you will never understand. You will always take the pay check. I do hope Mel pays you more than a shoe shine per blog. Actually, you’re not worth it.

Personally, I frown on childish personal attacks. It is never helpful and always a bad idea ending in disgrace for the person who is attacking. After two years of selling SIRI for Mel in these blogs you should have at least learned who is baiting who.

Again, you were very helpful assisting me in re-posting and I look forward to baiting you into the next article that needs a SIRI history reminder.

Thank you and enjoy yourself …

Nice try. Ill be right here. Disputing your bad information again tomorrow, which would be appearing whether i come on here again or not. As we both know. Your muliple id thing is cute. About as old a basher tactic as using bold text. But you use that all the time too. Get your copy and pastes down for tomorrow. Get to bed early tonight, i know you get cranky if you dont get a good night sleep.
Personal attacks? You have been personally attacking Mel and this company for months, so I would rethink your take on personal attacks. Of which I havent. I just attack your words. Your words are full of half truths and wrong information. It would be irresponsible of me to allow that to go unchallenged.
If I get 100 people to agree with me, you will say its all my ids, ok buddy. Then go complain to SA about it, and get me banned, They can know my ip. Of course you wont, cause your a lier. Lying again. Should I just start calling your bc charger? and get it over with?

Relmar, it is rare, most of my friends have no idea about the market, they prefer working at the supermarket etc. and spend the extra money for crap, while I prefer to enjoy live, travel during school breaks and invest in the stock market together with my sister. We learned from our parents how it works and we don't do anything without checking with them first.
As for Sirius, I guess you are right, our generation is not so much "in touch" with siriusxm, but again we are different , we love it , but we also listen to country, rock and classic , very different to the "music" my friends listen to.

Melanie, thanks for your reply. Are you from a large city or small city? Ask 5 friends what they think of SiriusXM, if they used it, etc...
And report back to us. Try to give us a first hand view of how your generation views the company. That would be "homework" for you , right . LOL
    Thanks.

Relmar, we live in a small city in Florida. I will talk to my friends, we are going hiking next week and that might be a good opportunity.
I just talked to my Dad about it and he believes SiriusXM is not doing enough to get young people interested, but once they have it in the car like me, they love it and keep it.

Siri Doo Doo: Look at Ford sales. Scorching in a bad economy. Wait until the rebound! Incentives galore and Cash for Clunkers is going to bring in the new customers. What about the rumor that the IPhone in China will have a Siri XM app. Also look at all the new pre-owned deals. Wow! Looks like you and your shorting and bashing is about to get a big bull horn in the bears gut! Ouch. Cover cover cover Siri Doo doo!

Dear Siri Dumb and Glum, Scot's Slant here. You're an idiot. You say Siri went from $12.00 a share to $.08 in 11 months. Siri DID NOT do that. I bought stock over three years ago amidst the "Howard Hype." (my stupidity).

At that time it was about $6.50 a share. It took several YEARS before it went to $.08. As for your math that $2.00 gain versus $2.00 loss equals zero gain, you are correct. However, even if that does equal zero gain, that also represents zero loss which adds up to yearly savings of 300 million plus which can be used to pay down outstanding debt.

And for your comments that Mel and his management team are intentionaly trying to destroy a multi-billion dollar company while they hold a monopoly in the market? Again, flawed thinking. If they held a monopoly, their bottom line would be more black than red where it's been stuck for so many years.

And before I forget, there is one final thought: As SiriusXM continues to spread their exposure across the board by teaming with other forms of media (CNN, etc.), and other multi-billion dollar companies (automakers, Apple, etc.), that historically successful corporate model bodes well for all involved -- including the shareholders.

By the way, there is one more final thought that I just thought about: Why would you continue to hold this stock if your crystal ball promises a bleak future where this company will eventually fail? I think you need to trade in your old ball for a new one as the old one is obviously cracked.

    Dear Mr. Slant

    A demand for justice

Please do not confuse the bad history of SIRI with the future of SIRI. I have pointed out only what thousands of investors have screamed about for two years. The demand for justice is huge. SIRI was the inspiration for a documentary movie “Stock Shock” produced to expose the corruption in the stock market.

Justice and the history of Mel Karmazin is a much larger issue than the trading price of SIRI today. If your agenda is to defend the stock only to keep the price up, than you may not be any better than the people who have caused all the corruption. Mine is a higher morality to insist on obtaining a more fair trading market. Exposure and public demand for investigation is how America gets things done.

Most people have very short memories and a willing desire to forgive easy. This is why corruption is extremely difficult to stop. Constant reminders are required. This is my agenda. I do not ask anyone to like me. I do not ask anyone to believe me. I provide the information for people with the desire to know and investigate as they may require. I would like to prevent everyone from the massive loses that I experienced while trusting Mel Karmazin in my life investment in SIRI.

Can you say you know Mel Karmazin? Well, I can and more. I trusted the man with the farm. He personal assured us he would have financing for the merger. What we have uncovered since that day is outrageous and blatant intent to steal millions from what Mel Karmazin refers to as “Unsophisticated and Unwashed Investors”. I have posted only the highlights of the corruption of Mel Karmazin. SIRI and Goldman Sacks are joined at the hips in corruption of SIRI stock. For more information you can see the movie or visit the SAVESIRI web site. Else, believe what you need to believe.

CRISTAL BALL? I am LONG in SIRI and working to average down a horrifying position 160,000 shares. However, we have found ways to make the Goldman Sacks Computer give back a few pennies per trade. RECOVERY HAS BEEN HARD WORK AND IT WAS MY RETIERMENT.

Now ask yourself how much is trust worth? What would it be like to lose $ 450,000 in retirement because you trusted your BOSS?

SIRI DOOM and no I am not Mike Harleb or the makers of the movie.

Siri Doom, Scot's Slant here. Point well taken. However, your figures and timelines are still flawed. Siri did not go from $12.00 to $.08 in 11 months. It went from $6.50 to $.05 over a period of several years. Also, why are you so convinced that Karmazin seeks to destroy his own company when he has tens of millions of his personal fortune wrapped up in his own company? And finally, why would the rest of Mel's management team stand idly by if they felt he was bent on destroying the company when they also have much to lose? Conspiracy theory is hogwash. Scot's Slant

Hey scots slant. If funny. He acuses me of being a paid pumper, as he liters the blog with lies and wrong information. Its so full of them I get bored correcting them all. I will not allow him to continue his lies unchallenged. He makes up stories. Literally. And fake quotes.

"He personal assured us he would have financing for the merger."

This is correct. He did finance the merger. You start with a truth.

Now the acquisation, combined with a lie and a fake quote. Link with the "unwashed" quote please.

"What we have uncovered since that day is outrageous and blatant intent to steal millions from what Mel Karmazin refers to as “Unsophisticated and Unwashed Investors”."

Followed by the agenda. You offer the solution to the problem
"For more information you can see the movie or visit the SAVESIRI web site. Else, believe what you need to believe. "

So you start with a truth.
You add a lie and an acquisation.
Then you want to offer a solution and the truth.
    Interesting.
So you lie, then offer truth?
And you throw around unproven acquisations.
And you want us to listen to you? I dont think so.

I dont want you to even be associated with the movie. You telling people to watch it discredits the movie. So please, no thanks. If your referring to a certain investor who is in the movie a lot, and his take, then you can go to his site, and be the only visitor there this month. Thats how much support he has. I know hundreds of investors in this company, and around 2 or 3 take that view. So "thousands" of investors are blaming Mel? I dont think so. Many views in that movie about whos responsible, and what happened. MH view of the matter is NOT the official take on the story in the movie, nor is it the only one offered, nor is it given more credance than others.

That is why it is important to contradict the nonsense that SIRI DOOM is spewing.

Mel CANNOT BUY UP ALL OF HIS SHARES at the same time. The shares vest on a schedule. In fact, he can not buy ANY shares right now. The first time he CAN buy any of those shares is December 31st, 2010, at which time 25% (or 30 million shares) vest. SIRI DOOM never posts links to his so-called "proof", but I will on mine.
    satwaves.com/forum...

The other thing? When he does "buy" the shares... HE DOES NOT DO IT ON THE OPEN MARKET. He buys them directly from the company because the company has set aside these shares for the bonuses. It will not affect the common stock or the market one little bit.

SIRI DOOM also states that Mel could not reverse split because it was dependant on NASDAQ listing rules. While Mel has said that the RS would be used only for listing requirements, they RS agreement that was voted on by all shareholders has absolutely nothing mentioning NASDAQ in it. In fact, it says they can RS at any time based on the judgement of the board of directors. Here is the link:
    satwaves.com/forum...

You see, we at Satwaves.com have the facts. Anyone looking for the facts should come over and check us out.

I have offered to let SIRI Doom come over and plead his case and provide facts, yet he refuses to do so. Apparently, he provided his facts "months ago"... must have been privately where no one else ever say them. My links are listed above... where are his?

Relmar, just came back from a great hiking trip and as promised took the opportunity and talked to my friends about SiriusXM.
First of all and this is good news, they now about Sirius since the I-phone appl. and thanks to some ads. The bad news is the fact that they all like their downloads and the free stuff like Pandorra and they probably are not going to spend extra money for Sirius, even if we only talk about a few bucks. The company probably should come up with something special for teens, something they really want and wouldn't mind paying for.
Moreover, anytime one of my friends rides with me and listen to SatRad, they love it and wouldn't mind paying for a sub, but most of them drive older cars without the radio and buying the equipment and have it installed is out of the question. One of my classmates has a radio, it is deactivated and I convinced her to get it activated again.
I hope you will read this and maybe it helps.
