The Nasdaq Composite Index is currently riding a 12-day winning streak.
But judging from history, the current streak is getting a little long in the tooth (see table below)...
Observations (Nasdaq winning streaks of 10 or more days)
- This is only the 29th time in history that the Nasdaq has had a winning streak of 10 days or more.
- The record streak is 19 days (Aug. 1979).
- The Nasdaq hasn't experienced a 10-day winning streak in over 12 years.
- The average total gain during the previous 28 streaks was approximately 7.0% (The index is already up 13% during the current streak).
- On average, Index performance has been slightly positive for the 5, 30, and 90-day periods following a streak.
Full Disclosure: No positions.
